Is There A Keto Friendly Soda Alternative? A Simple Recipe

If you’re looking for a keto friendly soda, your best bet is to make your own. That way you can rest assured that you’re putting healthy stuff into your body and that’s always going to help with both your health and weightloss!

A Worldwide Obsession With Fizzy Drinks

There’s plenty of names for these fizzy liquids – soda, fizzy drink, soft drink, POP – it depends on where you come from as to what name you give these sweet bubbly drinks. But if you’re a fizzy fan, you’re definitely NOT on your own.

Fizzy drinks have spread throughout most modern cultures. They are popular with adults and children alike, all over the world. The problem with them is, well, they’re not very healthy are they?…

And you really do need to be aware of what you’re putting into your body and the effects it may be having on your overall health.

Therefore those who love the fizzy, but are on a mission to improve health or weight, really need to take a look at what they’re drinking.

Are Sugar Free Sodas Healthy?

Just like their sugar filled cousins, popular sugar free sodas are generally NOT healthy choices. Even though they might be free of carbs or sugars, they do contain artificial sweeteners, colours, flavours and other stuff made by (mad?) scientists in white coats, who lurk and create unnatural substances in laboratories.

And to be as healthy as we can be, we want to put as little artificial anything into our bodies as we can manage!

But it does seem that word is gradually getting out, and is maybe sinking in, about the unhealthy effects of drinking sodas, whether they contain sugar or not.

So let’s face it. Both the sugar filled soda varieties and the artificial sweetener filled diet sodas do come packaged with well researched, undesirable effects on both health, obesity, and even lifespan. So understandably there are plenty of people who are looking for healthy soda alternatives.

Is There Such Thing As A Healthy Soda?

Well, that depends on who you ask. Pretty much all commercial soda varieties contain chemical additives.

And while there is some thought that even the carbonation of water may cause some detrimental effects on those who consume it, the jury is still out on that. There are actually many studies that show that carbonated water may have benefits for both health and weightloss, and no real downside.

But to have water that’s sparkling, flavoured and healthy, you really need to add the additional ingredients yourself so that you know they’re as natural as possible and not doing you harm.

Is There Any Healthy Keto Soda?

I don’t know if there’s any such a thing as a healthy keto friendly soda that’s made commercially. I personally have my doubts. But this super simple recipe is a great alternative.

It’s healthy, almost zero calories, contains natural ingredients, tastes great and can be enjoyed by adults and kids alike.

Even my grandchildren love it!

The best thing about this drink is that you can make it quickly and easily by the glass or by the jug. And if you have a sodastream, you don’t even need to buy the fizzy water!

So if you love soda, and you’re looking for a healthy alternative but your quest seems impossible, don’t despair. I have a simple soda alternative that’s both healthy and sugar free.

How To Make A Healthy Soda Alternative

Ingredients

  • 1 glass of sparkling Italian mineral water (chilled)
  • 1 large lemon wedge
  • Liquid stevia

Now, let’s put it together

  1. Squeeze the juice from the lemon wedge into the sparkling water
  2. Drop the squeezed wedge into the water for more flavour
  3. Add a few drops of liquid Stevia to taste (if you haven’t used Stevia before, go slowly. It is very sweet and a little goes a long way. Try one or two drops and then taste to see if you need more).
  4. Stir and enjoy!

It really is that simple – but of course all the best things are! 🙂
